Jonnyがイスラエルのシンガー Dudu Tasaがリリースしたシングルにギターで参加しているようです。
奥さんがイスラエル人ということもあり、イスラエルへはしばしば家族で訪れることもあるというJonnyですが、この話は半年前あたりから浮上していたみたいですね。
Jonnyが参加しているのは"What a Day"という曲だそうですが、Jonnyが参加したことでこの曲は以前より複雑な曲になったとDuduは語っているそうです。

前3作のアルバム時に起った様なリリース前のネット上でのリークを防ぐために今回のIn Rainbowsでのレコーディング時にとった対策について。
Colin：「とんでもないリスクだと感じたよ。まるでミッション：インポッシブル。レコーディングした後は、すべてのCDを破壊したんだ。それでマスターには、もし紛失しても誰も聴かない様なタイトルをつけたんだ。「イーグスル：グレイテストヒッツ」「クーラシェイカー：デモ」「フィルコリンズのヒップホップカヴァー」ってね。」
Jonny：「そんなレコード聞いた事ある？信じらんないよね！」

In RainbowsのDLに代金を支払ったファンはわずか38％だそうですが...
Colin：「もっとだよ。最新の数字はまったく知らないけど。ただ、マネージャーからドイツのファンが最もケチで、イタリアのファンが最も気前が良かったってのは聞いたよ。」

我々にはインタヴューにおいて、Thomは独裁者にある「怖い雰囲気」を作るというイメージがあるのですが...。
Jonny：「それはメディアがそうしたがってるんだよ。「Thomは怖い」って。」
Colin：「スパイス・ガールがいるんだよ。そろいもそろって」
Jonny：「唯一それについて言えるのは彼のバンジョー嫌いだね。
もう14年も僕は彼にバンジョーでとてもダークで暖かいサウンドが作れるってことを言い続けてるんだけど、毎回毎回「絶対に、ダメだ」と。」

EMIがTerra Firma社に買収されて、これ以上EMIと仕事したくなくなったというのは？
Jonny：「その通り。乗っ取りによってGuy Hands（新任のCEO）は、2012年ごろには利益を４倍にしたいと発表したんだ。でも、音楽を扱う上ではまったく倫理的じゃないって思った。だから他にしたんだよ。」

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLYに来月26日より公開の映画"There Will Be Blood"のディレクターPaul Thomas Andersonとサウンドトラックを手がけるJonnyとの電話インタヴューが掲載されています。
※4ページにわたる長いインタヴューです......。最後でIn Rainbows に関して語っているのでとりあえずそこだけ....「あのようなリリース方法はよかったのですか？」という質問に「もちろん。みんなが同時に聴いてるって事が嬉しいよ。だってそれが狙いだったからね。ほんとに。」

なぜ、このようなアルバムの発売方法を選んだのですか？
「一つはとにかく早く出す、皆が同時に聴けるしね、あと一つには試してみる価値があると思ったから」

なぜ変動価格設定に？
「みんなに、あれ？音楽の価値でどれぐらいだ？って考えさせるのも楽しいし、それにちょっと面白い質問じゃない？」

音質に対しての不満にはどう対処しますか？160Kbpsでは不十分では？
「さあ。僕らはiTuneより多少良くしようと話し合って、こうなった。いいんじゃない？CD並みのクオリティーになんてならないし。それはCDで。」

アルバム自体に何か目標としたものとかありました？
「僕らは作業や実験にじっくり時間を費やしたKID Aの頃ののようにやりたくなったんだと思う。Hail To The Thiefみたいに、そんなにパフォーマンスを基盤とするんじゃなくてね、
それ以外は、いつもみたいに曲を掘り起こしてみたり、あとプレッシャーかな。「台無しにしゃいけない、下手に録音しちゃいけない、下手なアレンジをしちゃいけない、忠実に表現しなきゃいけない」っていう。そう、これだよ。

ツアーの予定は？
「まさにそれを話し合い始めたところだよ。アルバムも出たし、みんなでどのようにどこでやるかを話し合うよ。」

また、GothamistにもJonnyの長めのインタヴュー。こちらでは来年1月にニューヨークで初公演を迎えるJonny作曲のPopcorn Superhet Receiver（8/8付ニュース参照）の事がメインのようですが、当然ならがIn Rainbowsの話題へと。
ちなみに、こちらのインタヴューでは、今回のリリース方法に関して「早く出したかったから。実験みたいなもんだよ。自分達自身のためにやったんだ、それだけだよ。業界への抵抗だの状況を変える試みだのってみんなは大事にしようとしてるけど、僕らは全然そんな動機でやったわけじゃない。
自分達にとっていい方法だと思ったのと、これまでやってきたことに飽き飽きしてたからだよ」　
また、ツアーに関しては「来年はどこかでやろうと話し合ってるんだ」と。

そして、1月のPopcorn Superhet Receiverの際にはニューヨークへ来ますか？という質問には、行きたいけど、行けないとのこと。

"JONNY GREENWOOD IS THE CONTROLLER" (5日付ニュース参照）ついて、W.A.S.T.E.より発売日等のお知らせメールがありました。
発売は2月19日（USでは3月6日）。John Holt、Linval Thompson 、Lee Perry等々、レゲエ界のヒーローをフィーチャーした聴きごたえのあるこのアルバムのカヴァーアートワークはStanley Donwoodが担当、アルバムの序文はJonnyによるもの..とのことです。

Jonnyがレゲエのコンピレーションアルバムを監修。
レゲエ好きのJonnyがTrojyan Recordsから"JONNY GREENWOOD IS THE CONTROLLER"というJonny選曲のレゲエトラックを集めたコンピレーションアルバムをリリースするようです。膨大なリストからこれらを選曲するのに6ヶ月かかったとか。収録曲は以下：

Trojyan Recordsのサイトによると、発売は2月。見慣れたベア（「TRJAN」という点滅するバナー）をクリックしてメールアドレスを登録しておくと、アルバムの情報等を提供してくれるようです。
今頃気付きましたが、右側に壁紙ダウンロードの表示がありますが...昨年12月のカレンダーですね...。
またTargetShop.dk
にはアルバムカヴァー(?)。テキストはデンマーク語のようでよく理解できませんが、アルバムのアートワークはRadioheads layout-teamってことはStanley
(and Thom?)で解説はJonnyによるもの...のようですね。発売日は2/19になっています。
