このアルバムは近年奥さんを亡くし、3歳の双子の娘を育てながら音楽をやり続けて行くMark Mulcahyの支援としてリリースされる様でThomの他にもMichael Stipeや、Frank Black、Thomの弟AndyのバンドUnbelievable Truthも参加している様です。

RadioheadもサポートしているFriends of the Earthが行っている「MAKE the RULE」キャンペーン。
この夏、このキャンペーンの一環で「MAKE the RULE NIGHT」というイベントが開催されます。

この夏、MAKE the RULEは、音楽イベントを通して、キャンペーンの裾野を広げます。 8月5日の夜は、六本木のイベントスペースに、DJサッシャと２組のバンド、温暖化問題の専門家を迎え、熱いトーク＆ライブを繰り広げます。 英国の気候保護法の成立に大きな影響を与えた市民キャンペーン「THE BIG ASK」のスポークスマンとして活躍したレディオヘッドのトム･ヨークが地球温暖化問題について語る秘蔵ＤＶＤも上映。

....ということで、当サイト企画の「Radiohead Night」でも過去にFriends of the Earth UK、ジャパン、共に協力を得て開催した回が何度かありましたが、今回はこちらが協力することになり、DVD編集等でもお手伝いさせていただいてます。
それから...ですね....ライヴをする2組のうちのOASというのはRadiohead Nightに来た事がある方はご存知だとおもいますが、私がやってるRadioheadのコピーバンドだったりします...。これもまた、イベントを盛り上げるお役に立てたらなぁ...と思っています..。

Stanley Donwoodの新作シリーズ" EL CHUPACABRA "が 7/11〜8/9 ブリストルの Weapon of Choice Gallery（14 St Michael’s Hill, Bristol, BS2 8DT）にて展示される模様。

Nigel Godrich が、RadioheadとのBromance(※)を語る。
こちらの記事によると、Radioheadと現在8枚目のアルバムを製作中のNigel Godrichが、最近のインタヴューで
「この “結婚生活” を邪魔するものはない」とRadioheadとの関係を語っている様です。

「僕らは互いの下着や頭の中に入り込んでるよ。毎回違ったかたちでね。まったくユニークな体験だよ」と。
Radioheadと共に仕事をする事がどれだけ好きで、それをすることの幸せを語ったとか。
「Radiohead でたくさんやることがあるから、多くの新しいプロジェクトは引き受けないんだ。 15年にわたって育んできた関係のほうが遥かにより多くを生み出すように僕は感じるしね。そんな関係を持てるバンドは他には絶対に見つけられないよ。 」
※「ブロマンス」ブラザーとロマンスを掛け合わせた造語。"強い絆で結ばれた男同士の友情"

...そんなNigel Godrichですが、SupergrassのGaz CoombesとDanny Goffeyと3人で新プロジェクトとしてカヴァーバンドを結成したようです。
The Hot Ratsというバンドで、The Kinks, Gang Of Four, Syd Barrett, Roxy Music, Sex Pistolsなどをカヴァーするとか。
Glastonbury (6/26), Truck Festival（7/26）, Bestival (9/12)への出演の他、
Radioheadも出演する Reading/Leeds Festivalsにも参加する予定。
秋にはデビューアルバムがリリースされる模様。（NMEへ）

世界で最も規模の大きいロンドンのオークションハウス、クリスティーズ（Christie's）にてRadiohead全員のサインの入ったOK Computerのレコーディング時に使用されたというドラムキットが出品される模様。
このドラムキットはPhilがボランティアをしているサマリタンズ慈善団体のチャリティーの抽選の賞として7年前に寄付されたもの。
£4,000の落札価格が見込まれているようです。開催は7月1日。

昨年暮れからレコーディングを開始したとされる、Seven Worlds Collide projectのメンバー（EdとPhil含む）によるOxfam International支援のためにリリースされる2枚組チャリティー・アルバム"The Sun Came Out"（昨年、11/18ニュース参照）の発売日が、8月10日に決定している模様。
なお、このアルバムにはPhilがヴォーカルを担当している「The Ties That Bind Us」が収録されています。

英国で今週発売のNME誌にRadioheadの記事が掲載されているそうです。
Colinのインタヴューのようですが、なんでもどっぷりディスコクラッシック、テクノ、ハウスのアーティストや昔のソウルクラッシックにハマっているとか。
Colinのそういった音楽の趣味がアルバムに反映するかと言えば....
「全く未定だけど、それもいいよね。僕らはとりあえず何か試してみて、それでやってみて、それでそっちに行って、その後また振り返るんだよ。」と。
また、プロデューサーにNigel Godrichを起用するにあたっては、
「彼は素晴らしいからさ」等と褒めまくって、ミキシングデスクの後ろに新顔を迎えて新鮮な気分なろうとも思わなかったからと。
また、Reading / Leeds festivalでの新曲お披露目は望めるかについては、可能性はなくもないとか。
