Thomが参加している9月に発売が予定されているMark Mulcahyのトリビュートアルバムに関して（7/26ニュース参照）ちょっとした小ネタ。
今回Thomが歌っている"All for the Best"にコーラスで参加している弟のAndy Yorkeがファン向けに配信したメーリングリストによると、1987年にThomとAndyは共にMark Mulcahyが所属するThe Miracle Legionの大ファンになったそうですね。90年代後期にはAndyのバンド、Unbelievable Truthがツアーをしている頃、Markはソロ活動を開始しており、
MarkがUnbelievable TruthのUKツアーのオープニングアクトを勤めたのがきっかけでMarkとは友達になったようです。
また、この共演についてですが、昨年のAndy Yorke来日時に、すでにほのめかされてたみたいですね。

振付け師、モダンダンスの巨匠として知られるMerce Cunningham（マース・カニングハム）氏が26日、ニューヨークの自宅で老衰のため亡くなったそうです。90歳。
その訃報を聞き、DASに哀悼の意を表しています。

Merce Cunningham 1919 - 2009

We are very sad to hear about Merce Cunningham’s death yesterday, aged ninety.
Merce invited us to take part in his Split Sides project, in October 2003. It was a collaboration of music and dance, but one where each of the elements - set, costume,
choreography and music - were randomly combined, to create a performance around chance. He was very kind and hospitable, and invited us around to his apartment the night before the show. He showed us his computer program which generated random sequences of gesture and movement for wire-framed mannequins, like Kraftwerk’s Robots. He also showed us, the next night, that discipline and focus can create the space for an unexpected moment, when something new can suddenly exist: such a contrast to the scripted world of rock.

彼はとても親切で、温かくて、ショー前夜には僕らを彼のアパートに招待してくれたんだ。
Kraftwerkのロボットみたいなワイヤーフレームのマネキンのジェスチャーや動きのランダム配列で育成されたコンピュータ・プログラムを見せてくれたよ。...など思い出も綴っています。

2003年にRadioheadとSigur Rosとが音楽を担当し話題となった「Split Sides」を発表。
ワールドプレミア公演にはRadioheadが出席し、即興音楽によるパフォーマンスが20分ほど行われた。今年DVDも発売となっている（左のリンク欄参照）。

BBC 6 Music、そしてRadiohead のウェブキャストにも参加でおなじみのAdam BuxtonがLatitude FestivalにてThomにインタヴューしたと、ブログに投稿しています。

Thomと一緒に来ていたNigel (Godrich)のおかげでライヴのあとバックステージに入れたという彼は、バカげた質問に笑いながら「次！」等と応対するThomのインタヴュー映像を収録したとか。
そのインタヴューは8月下旬に一部を彼のラジオ番組にて放送、可能であればブログに映像を掲載するとのこと。

BBC 6 MusicでAdam Buxton（ウェブキャストThumbs_Down/Scotch Mistにも参加）が、JonnyがMagazineの再結成時にギタリストと誘われていたことについて触れたそうです。
「ThomはJonnyが彼らにやらないかって誘われたって言ってたよ。だけどJonnyはとにかく困惑したとおもうね、だって彼は世界一のMagazineファンだから。気が引けたんだと思うよ。
きっとロッカーに籠って練習するよ。」

※Magazineは今年再結成。2004年にギタリストJohn McGeochが急逝しているため、サポートを迎え活動中。Thomの参加したLatitude Festivalにも出演。

先週末のSunday Telegraphに掲載された「Radioheadのマネージャーがレーベルを立ち上げる」という記事に関して、僕らが立ち上げるんじゃなくて、マネージャーの一人、Brian Messageと彼の会社がやることだから、勘違いしないでね...といった投稿。

SUNDAY TELEGRAPH PRINTS WRONG HEADLINE

Contrary to a Sunday Telegraph headline this weekend, we are not setting up a record label. The credit for this venture goes to one of our managers, Brian Message and his company ATC.

...RadioheadのマネージャーBrian Messageが立ち上げると発表された新レーベルはPolyphonicといって、Message氏の会社ATCと、MAMA Group、アーティストマネージメント事務所Nettwerk Music Groupとが提携し設立。まだ詳細は公表されていませんが、デジタルリリースをメインとしRadioheadがIn Rainbowsリリース時に行った購入者が価格を決める...といったようなリリース等も計画されているそうです。
Polyphonicではアーティストが自身の作品の著作権を所有でき、アーティストとの利益配分も50/50にするとのこと。
