Radioheadは7月19日、2012年のステージ崩壊事故以来初となるトロント公演を行なった。

ライヴ中、Thomは
「僕らはトロントで公演をやりたいと思った。そしたらステージが崩落し、我々の仕事仲間である友達が亡くなった。
君達の街にいる、責任を取るべき人々が未だに責任を取っていない。クソ静まりかえってる。」
といい、メンバーも皆立って、観客にも黙祷を呼びかけ、その後"Karma Police"を演奏するというシーンがありました。



2012年6月16日、カナダ・トロント公演のライブ前のステージ崩壊事故で、ドラム・テクニシャンのScott Johnsonが亡くなり、他数名が負傷。
バンド側はライブ・ネイション・カナダ他の、ジョンソンの死に関わったとされる当事者に対しての賠償を求めていたが、昨年9月に裁判を停止することが発表されていた。
バンド側は、ジョンソンの遺族らと共にカナダ当局に呼びかけ、その後事故に対しての調査を実現させている。

ライヴ前夜の7月18日にはPhilがBBCの「Newsnight」に出演し、停止された訴訟についてのフラストレーションを吐露しています。

ニューヨーク滞在中のRadiohead。
ちょうどMichael Stipeも近くのブルックリン／ウィリアムズバーグにあるThe Journal Galleryで個展"Infinity Mirror" を開催中でThomが訪問したようです。

私もこの翌日に行きました。まったく同じ服装をしたMr.Stipe氏がそこにはいらっしゃって、
日本でライブを見たと伝えたらすごく喜んでくれました。
Radioheadのライヴはニューヨークの2日目を観に行ったそうで、ものすごいよかったよ！と目をキラキラさせて
話していたのがとても印象的でした。
展示はすごくレアだな、とか他のミュージシャン達との思い出の品や写真なんかもあったりして
すごく楽しめました。

ニューヨーク4days公演中のRadioheadですが、Colinはカスタムベースの話をしにSadowsky Guitarsを訪問した模様。

この曲はピアノソロの作品で、収録されたアルバム等はまだなく、コンサートのみで少数の選ばれたピアニストによってのみ演奏されてきました。
Jonnyによると、有名なピアニスト  Glenn Gouldの"and by the glorious mechanics of the thing." に触発されたとのこと。作品は、slow と fastのムーブメントから構成されていて、"高度なレベルのプレーヤーに適した"作品にしたとか。

Thomが6月に出演したSónar Festival 2018でのライブ映像が公開されています。

6日よりツアー開始のRadiohead。
バンドはすでにシカゴ入りをしており、ColinはLaklandのベースを新調した様です。

モデルは44-64というモデルを元にネックをジャズベース用の細いものに付け替えているもの、とのこと。
（メーカーに確認しました。笑）
